It’s sad, I really hate to admit it, but it’s true: I missed Trinidad Carnival… again.
“No big deal,” you say. “There’s always next year, right?”
That sort of happy crap may have soothed my soul before, but not this year. No, not when you consider that I’ll be 40 in a few months and I have NEVER experienced the unmitigated joy, the pageantry, the palancin’ of Carnival.
For a guy like me, who kinda’ tends to like a drink and a good party every now and again, this is a crime. Add to it the fact that I was born to Trini parents, my Dad lives in Tobago and never misses the fete and this blog gives me every excuse to really soak in the full TnT Carnival experience, and… well… there really is just no excuse.
I blew it, plain and simple.
I know it doesn’t make up for it, and I know it doesn’t make it right, but tonight I’m drowning my sorrows over missing out the World’s Biggest Street Party (again) with the beer that no doubt fuels it – Carib.
The undisputed king of beers in Trinidad & Tobago, plus a good bit of the rest of the Caribbean, Carib is a refreshing, easy-drinking lager that’s perfectly suited to the type of hot, round the clock partying that defines TnT Carnival.
To me, it’s the beer that in name, bottle and iconic logo most represents the Caribbean. Just look at the colors: a marvelous pale gold as brilliant as the bright Caribbean sun, paired with soothing blues, light and dark, emblematic of our sea and sky.
Carib is just perfectly Caribbean… just like Carnival.
*Sniff*.
Next year…
