Two more days til I’m back in Tobago, and not a moment too soon! Temps in normally warm and sunny South Florida have dipped dramatically in recent days, making a Caribbean escape a definite priority for this island boy.
I couldn’t be more excited to spend a warm Christmas with family while also pursuing my usual uncommon travel fun, though in the typical haphazard fashion that resulted in my making three big mistakes on a recent trip to Grenada, I haven’t planned a thing. Plane tickets, accommodations and rental car are all set, of course, but outside of that, this trip remains a blank canvass of God knows what will happen.
I do have a wish list, though. At the top of it: another surfing lesson with Jason Apparicio.
Remember my first lesson with Jason a couple years ago? Yeah, that little adventure ended in comical fashion for me, though there’s nothing funny about Jason’s skillful instruction or masterful surfing technique. The video above offers proof. It shows Jason conquering the waves around Reunion Island with the artful precision that’s made him one of the Caribbean’s top surfing pros for years.
Getting instruction from such an accomplished surfer and all around great guy as Jason is a treat, whether you flame out as I did previously, or you dance atop the waves as I hope to do next time…
