Rum Sail Away with Island Windjammers and RumGallery.com

For as long as rum and sailing have shared the seas across the Caribbean, few two things have combined in quite as magical a way to twinkle the toes of explorers, fortune seekers, pirates, and modern day uncommon travelers. Get down to the islands enough and sooner or later the two will charm their way into your life, forever commending your soul to an endless search for new sandy shores to explore; new, ever more inventive blends to savor.

It is in the spirit of just this type of tasty exploration that our friends at Island Windjammers and RumGallery.com have come together to offer what promises to be two of the most amazing weeks anywhere at sea in the Caribbean next year.

Noted rum expert and all around great guy, Dave Russell from RumGallery.com, will host specially themed rum sailings aboard Island Windjammers’ Diamant and Sagitta tall ships in July and November 2014.

Imagine learning the history of how rum came to be while island-hopping aboard a majestic old schooner in much the same way as the region’s early sailors/rum lovers?!

In addition to rum history, Dave will also detail the various rum production methods and share the secrets of how to mix the perfect rum cocktail – all great things to know, whether you’re a connoisseur or a casual sipper.

The rum journey aboard Diamant is slated for July 11-17, 2014 departing from Grenada and sailing up through the Grenadines. The 101-foot sailing vessel carries a maximum capacity of just 12 passengers, ensuring you’ll make great friendships with like-minded rum/sailing enthusiasts, while also having plenty of room to yourself.

Dates for the Sagitta rum journey are November 16-22, 2014 departing from St. Maarten and sailing through the Leeward Islands – Anguilla, St Kitts, Nevis, St. Barts, and St. Eustatius. Sagitta is a bit larger (120 feet in length), capable of a max. capacity of 24 passengers.
