The Hills of St. Maarten From The Sea: Photo of the Day

Whether you’re on the Dutch side or the French side, somewhere in the interior or savoring her sandy shores, the dual country island of St. Maarten/St. Martin is beautiful from almost any angle.

Gazing upon her from the sea, though, is especially sweet.

As we’ve noted before, St. Maarten/St. Martin simply lends itself perfectly to sailing adventures. While sailing from Philipsburg to Grand Case aboard the S/V Quality Time just a few short weeks ago, we were treated to spectacularly scenic views of her coastal areas and highlands, this extremely conical hill standing out among them.

Aside from their crowning communications towers and the undoubtedly seductive views from the homes and villas lining their slopes, the hills of St. Maarten/St. Martin offer some rather rewarding hiking adventures.

Any trekking here for us will have to wait for another time, though. On this trip, we were all about admiring the hills from the sea, our sails full, our hearts inspired by their beauty to return and explore them more closely.
