Tranquility Among The Boat Traffic at Deep Water Cay, The Bahamas
Settling in almost anywhere along the sweet and generally secluded shores that line Deep Water Cay, it’s not long before the tranquil natural soundtrack gains accompaniment.
The dull drone starts out low, building ever louder as it approaches, occasionally emphasizing its presence with a rev or two.
Outboard engines… fishermen… flats boats.
Their pervasiveness, particularly in the late-afternoon hours, speaks to the vibrancy of the fishing on offer in these waters, though not in a way that detracts from the natural wonder.
To me, the sounds of the boat engines meld beautifully with nature’s melodies at Deep Water Cay suggesting, somewhat, that they were meant to be together…
