Patrick Bennett

With 15+ years of experience producing winning creative at top New York-based ad agencies, Patrick has earned a reputation for reinventing consumer brands. This, of course, fits hand in glove with Uncommon Caribbean's mission to refresh how people think about Caribbean travel. It's an ambitious task, but this born and bred Crucian has already managed similar feats for the likes of Samsung, Kraft, Six Flags, Verizon, and others; so we're feeling pretty good about having him in charge. Did we mention he's also got a passion for photography? Patrick may call Brooklyn home, but you're just as likely to find him traipsing across some distant, exotic land experiencing local cultures... Camera in hand.

On-Site Cabarete: Learn Kiteboarding in the “Action Sports Capital of the Caribbean”

Miguel of Laurel Eastman Kiteboarding by Patrick Bennett

12:45pm
A bacon-cheeseburger and side of fries sloshed around uncomfortably in my stomach as I ran up Cabarete beach from the Velero Beach Resort. Halfway up the bend, a clutch of fluttering pink flags marked my destination: Laurel Eastman Kiteboarding.
Before opening the best kiteboarding school in the Dominican Republic, Laurel was a rider on the pro-kiteboarding circuit, even being named 2002 Woman of the Year by the Kiteriders Professional World Tour and winning the 2003 North Sea Championship! And on top of being so accomplished, she’s probably the nicest person you’re ever likely to meet. If any school could turn me into a real kiteboarder, it had to be Laurel’s!

Friday Happy Hour: Samaroli Caribbean 2003

Samaroli Caribbean Rum 2003

If I plunked this bottle down in front of you with no explanation, the first thing you might ask is:
“What’s in it?”
It’s a fairly simple shape and size, adorned with a pale yellow label sporting a patterned border. As you can see, the main illustration is reminiscent of the 1920′s flapper era style and smack in the middle, it simply says CARIBBEAN 2003.

Caribbean Wallpaper Wednesday: Who Else Wants to be at Cupecoy Beach Right Now?

Cupecoy Beach, St. Maarten by Patrick Bennett

It’s the heart of winter in North America. The skies are grey. The winds are cold. Daylight hours feel ruthlessly rationed. It’s times like these when one question becomes inescapable:
If you could be anywhere else in the world right now, where would it be?
