Caribbean Wallpaper Wednesday: Solomon Beach, St. John Enjoy Your Own Private Nude Beach

Solomon Beach, St. John Your Own Private Nude Beach

If you’ve ever witnessed the outfits, dancing and general… Uhm… Passion of carnival in the Caribbean, you may not believe this, but West Indians are, in general, pretty prudish.
Many islands have laws with steep fines against wearing beach wear when not on the sandy shoreline. Most women in the workplace wouldn’t expose so much as a knee in their everyday office attire. And although we’ve discussed the joy of going au-naturel on St. Martin in the past, that’s certainly not the norm throughout the region.

Caribbean Wallpaper Wednesday: Something Take Me Away to Long Bay Beach, St. Martin

Long Bay Beach, St. Martin

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say if you’re currently in the northeast of the United States, you probably wouldn’t mind instantly transporting yourself to the serene locale pictured above. How can I be so sure? I’m one of you! Yes, I’m currently in New York City taking shelter next to a hard-working air conditioner on a day that saw temperatures hovering in the low 90’s… But days where the mercury is expected to top 100º are just around the corner! Forget 96º in the shade, we’re talking triple digits in the shade and otherwise!
It’s times like these when I find myself wondering why life can’t be more like TV.

On-Site St. Martin: Happiness is Happy Bay

Bikini Bottom on Happy Bay, St Martin By Patrick Bennett

Just a few minutes, over easy terrain…
The last time I’d told someone we should hike to a beautiful white sand beach and that it would only take us a few minutes to get there over some easy terrain… Well, let’s just say there were some issues. (Sorry, Dave!)
So, when I caught myself on the island of St. Martin a few months ago saying those exact same words to my wife as she carried my then 3 month old son in her arms, I immediately felt a moment of dread. It was one thing to torture Dave in our quest for the one and only white(ish) sand beach on Montserrat.

On Site St. Maarten: Make Out And More at Cupecoy Beach

Cupecoy Clothing Optional Beach

Spending some nude time on all the clothing optional beaches of St. Maarten/St. Martin was a “tough” job, but my wife and I were determined to find our favorites and bring them to all you good readers. So, after Orient Bay, that brought us to Cupecoy Beach.
Cupecoy is found in the southwest, just across the Dutch border. And as is the trend on St. Maarten, the area has exploded in development projects over the past three years. Massive construction sites are nearing completion all around this diminutive beach, so our recommendation is if you want to check it out, or have fond memories of a quiet time at Cupecoy, go there now!

Club Orient at Orient Bay: Spend Your Birthday in Your Birthday Suit

Nude on Long Bay Beach St Maarten

Anyone who’s spent any time with me knows I like adventure. In fact, my birthday last year was spent high in the mountains of Morocco on a 22-day trek that consisted of walking eight hours a-day, camping in the wilderness, and braving craggy cliffs at 13,000 feet. So this year, I decided to really expose myself to the harsh elements by visiting St. Martin‘s most famous clothing optional beach at Orient Bay.
My wife, Kathleen and I awoke early at L’Esplanade and started to get ready. We packed a couple bags with towels, sunglasses, hats, and lots of SPF 50 suntan lotion.

Uncommon Beauty: What’s Old is Still Nude in St. Martin

Bujudar aka Mr. Signature via flickr

The swinging sex party at Hedonism III is about to come to a close. The legendary den of iniquity located in Runaway Bay, Jamaica announced recently that it’s buttoning up… literally. In a few months, the wild toga parties, nude pool games and other assorted clothing-optional shenanigans will be gone, replaced instead by a more traditional resort experience and a new name – SuperFun Resort & Spa.
For anyone who was down for the old Hedo III party, this change is anything but super or fun.
Fear not, freaky traveler: the Caribbean still offers a great many places where you can bare all in search of a good time.
