Caribbean Wallpaper Wednesday: Who Else Wants to be at Cupecoy Beach Right Now?
It’s the heart of winter in North America. The skies are grey. The winds are cold. Daylight hours feel ruthlessly rationed. It’s times like these when one question becomes inescapable:
If you could be anywhere else in the world right now, where would it be?
You might think answering this question would be hard for me. In the past year, visions of paradise have danced before my eyes… From the shores of Barbados to Bequia, the lush forests of St. Lucia to St. Vincent, and the quiet seclusion of Canouan to Culebra. How could one place win out over the others? But the truth is, I woke up on this grey Wednesday with only one place tugging at my heartstrings:
The golden cliffs and picture perfect sands of Cupecoy Beach, St. Martin.
I’m not sure why I woke up with the gorgeous view captured in this week’s Caribbean Wallpaper on my mind, but for some reason, every time I close my eyes, I see it. Turquoise water lapping lazily against white sand below those fabled cliffs.
It’s not the most famous nude beach on the island. Of course, that would be Orient Bay with the world famous Club Orient welcoming au-naturel sun worshipers with their iconic orange sun beds and umbrellas. It doesn’t have Kali’s infused rum cocktails found at Friar’s Bay, a local favorite. It’s nowhere near as secluded as the strip of sand that graces Happy Bay. And to be honest, Cupecoy isn’t even my favorite beach on St. Martin/St. Maarten. That honor remains with the awe-inspiring expanses of Long Bay.
I can’t explain it. I just want to be there. Now.
I’m not sure this time whether having this bright slice of heaven adorning my computer will satisfy or only increase my longing, but it’s as close as I’m getting to Cupecoy today, unfortunately. Click below to download it yourself…
