Saturday Video: Savoring My Many Chances to Stick Around Santo Domingo

Patrick’s recent travels to the Dominican Republic have taken him to many disparate parts of the country – Samana, Punta Cana, Cabarete, the top of Pico Duarte, La Romana, Isla Catalina. In many ways you can say he’s covered the country from top to bottom… Literally!

Me? I’ve barely ever made it out of Santo Domingo.

I’ve probably visited the DomRep close to 10 times over the years. The furthest I ever made it out of the capital was an absolutely uncommon day-trip to San Pedro de Marcois.

That little adventure, however, is a story for another day. For today, let’s focus on Santo Domingo.

Throughout @GoDomRep Week, I’ve been as turned on by Patrick’s posts showcasing the many varied wonders that the Dominican Republic has to offer as any of you. Still, I have no regrets about sticking around Santo Domingo on all my previous visits.

Santo Domingo is simply alive and amazingly vibrant in a way that few other cities in our region can match. It’s the oldest city in the New World, but also one of the most progressive, in terms of commerce, infrastructure, and technology.
