Saturday Video: Meandering Marie-Galante in 30 Seconds

Marie-Galante, a flat, near-perfectly round island in the Guadeloupe archipelago, is small. So small, in fact, that you might think today’s headline an actuality; something we may have accomplished zipping around on a scooter past rolling fields of sugar cane seemingly stuck in an earlier age, like those pictured above.

Alas, we’ve yet to visit Marie-Galante, a wrong we fully intend to right in 2014. The island’s also not that small, though at a paltry 61 square miles I’m guessing we could drive around much of it in 30 minutes.

That would assume no stops, a condition that is not only diametrically counter to our style, but also, as today’s featured video suggests, entirely impossible…

It seems the great many uncommon pursuits in Marie-Galante far outpace the island’s humble size. If you’ve ever been and have suggestions on things we should see, eat, drink, or do, please let us know by leaving a comment below.
