Few beaches promise a more unique experience than the granite boulder strewn shores of The Baths National Park on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. But if you want the popular natural tidal pools, tunnels, arches, and scenic grottoes all to yourself, you better get there early!
The best way (of course) is by boat.
On a recent Sunsail charter out of Tortola, we overnighted on a mooring in St. Thomas Bay. From this starting point, we had three options the following morning at dawn. We could take our 454 catamaran down to The Baths then dinghy over to tie up on the dinghy line offshore, or we could dinghy the whole way, or we could just dinghy into Spanish Town and hop a taxi. We chose the latter in order to keep our camera gear and towels dry. Even with the addition of the land-based transfer, we managed to get to The Baths while the sun was barely above the horizon.
And most importantly, we had it all to ourselves for a blissful couple hours.
