Add Some Sweet to Your Summer With a Cruzan Cooler
Sometimes, somehow, you end up with rum you don’t really like.
Maybe it was a gift. Or maybe you got snookered by a pretty bottle; an all style and little substance rum better suited for… well… anything but drinking. Or maybe your tastes just changed over the years, rendering an old favorite as just plain old bad.
Such is the state of my current relationship with most Cruzan Flavored Rums.
Curse me all you want fellow Crucians, the fruity booze just ain’t for me.
(Okay, I still kinda’ like this one.)
Doesn’t change the fact that I have a lot of it, though.
Pineapple, mango, coconut, and vanilla all comprise my Cruzan Rum collection. Short of giving them away, what’s a guy to do?
How about we mix up a Cruzan Cooler?
- ANY Cruzan Flavored Rum
- Club Soda
- Cranberry Juice
- Lime juice
The simple cocktail calls for any Cruzan Flavored Rum, some club soda, ice, and cranberry juice. A lime is useful too. To make one, combine two parts rum with four parts club soda and a splash of cranberry juice over ice. Mix and drink.
The combo of club soda, cranberry, and lime cuts down on the super-sugary sweet flavored rum profile, though the Cruzan Vanilla version I’m sipping right now still tastes a bit too much like bubblegum – not such a bad thing if you like sweets.
The Cruzan Cooler is also nicely refreshing, which makes it pretty perfect for summer.
Cheers!
