Fire Sky Sunset Off Salt Whistle Bay in Mayreau, The Grenadines

When it comes to Caribbean sunsets, the best things truly do come to those who wait. Tracking the golden orb as it descends into the sea is always spectacular, of course, but it’s often the fireworks display that explodes across the clouds lingering around after the sun has set that truly takes my breath away. Varying shades of purple, blue, red, orange, and pink give the sense that sky is literally on fire. The phenomenon plays out daily across our home region, though I can hardly imagine it being any more amazing than the scene pictured above, at anchor among the calm waters of Salt Whistle Bay in Mayreau, the smallest of the inhabited islands of The Grenadines.

Wish you were here..?
