Shoal Bay Villas Oceanfront Deluxe – Ground Floor Room With A View
Ground floor. Few two words paired together thusly more rankle my nerves upon checking into a hotel anywhere in the Caribbean. Like most non-acrophobes, I prefer more elevated room options. Sweeping views are a big plus above the ground floor. So too is avoiding the prying eyes of passersby. Indeed, for me, rarified air has always been best in every room I’ve ever checked into… Every room, that is, except for my Shoal Bay Villas Oceanfront Deluxe accommodations in Anguilla.
This room had it all. TONS of space (a whopping 700 square feet), full kitchen, separate sleeping quarters with an ultra-comfy king-sized bed, airy living room and dining area, solid Wi-fi, TV, etc.
It’s the view just off my patio, though, that proved the show-stopper for me. As you can see above, guests staying here are literally steps from the otherworldly Shoal Bay sands. The beach is so temptingly close, in fact, that it feels like an extension of the living space.
Most of the time I enjoyed here back in November 2019 was spent with the sliding glass door open, the better to complete the illusion of relaxing on the beach, all the while sitting on my couch.
Oh, and speaking of that couch, my Shoal Bay Villas Oceanfront Deluxe was outfitted with two of them. Both were sleeper sofas as well, meaning that I easily could’ve accommodated my family of four, or a few close friends.
Something to consider for the next time I check-in here… and for the first time, specifically request the ground floor.
