Carlisle Bay Anchorage, Antigua

Finding yourself at anchor most anywhere along the south coast of Antigua is always a good thing. A Carlisle Bay anchorage, though, is extra special.

The bay itself is near-perfect, as we’ve noted before. A sea floor sporting a mix of sand, sea grass, and rocks allows for good holds. Generally calm and gin-clear seas only add to the sublime comfort of lowering your sails amid these surrounds.

Also sublime, Carlisle Bay Resort just a short swim or dinghy ride away. Fine dining, free Wi-Fi, and one of the sweetest of Antigua’s 365 beaches all entice sailors away from their Carlisle Bay Anchorage. So too do nearby hiking trails, like the Carlisle Bay Circular, which snakes into the lush hills just back of the beach.

Sticking and staying aboard ship, though, isn’t a bad plan either.

Wish you were here..?
