Our love affair with The Bahamas has come a long way since we started Uncommon Caribbean. At the time, Patrick had never set foot in any part of the archipelago. I, like most visitors to the land of Goombay, Junkanoo, and conch, had confined my Bahamian explorations to Nassau.
Since then, our Bahamas wanderings have taken us to islands big, small, and marvelously minuscule.
Grand Bahama Island; Great Exuma, Little Exuma, Staniel Cay, Stocking Island, Bitter Guana Cay, Big Major’s Spot, and Blow Hole Cay in the Exumas; Green Turtle Cay, Elbow Cay, Great Guana Cay, Lubbers Quarters Cay, and Marsh Harbour in the Abacos; North Bimini, South Bimini, Gun Cay, and Cat Cay in the Bimini Archipelago; and, of course, multiple return trips to Nassau – we’ve brought you news of the travel charms that await you in them all.

If you follow us on Facebook, then you already know that Patrick is making his way through the Abaco Islands right now captaining a 44-foot Sunsail catamaran with his young family (wife plus two kids, ages two and five) in tow, his very first attempt at bareboat chartering since learning the ropes of sailing just a few short months ago.
No doubt, this ultimate family travel escape represents our wildest adventure to date; a journey guaranteed to yield some amazing stories in the weeks to come, and more than a few great pics to share via our primary social channels (Facebook, twitter, Instagram) throughout the week.
We’re so excited about Patrick’s trip that we decided to designate August 17-23 as @VisitTheBahamas Week!
Every day, for the next seven days, we’ll concentrate our content solely on The Islands of The Bahamas, shining a spotlight on recent adventures we haven’t shared yet, while also looking ahead to trips we hope to make in the near future.
