Deal Of The Week: Best Bargains to the BVIs

Damn you, Walter Gibat!

You don’t know him. Before last week, you never even heard of him. These past few days, though, you’ve been consumed with contempt for him. Walter Gibat, grand-prize winner of our BVIs Rum and The Sea Giveaway.

Yes, it could’ve been you making plans to cash in on a week-long sailing adventure in and around the British Virgin Islands aboard a swanky Sunsail catamaran. Alas, there could be only one winner, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on your BVI travel dreams.

On the contrary, there are scores of great deals to be had enabling uncommon travelers to enjoy these sensational islands on the cheap. Here are a few of my favorites…

Long Bay Beach Club Explore The BVI Package

Long-time UC readers may remember when we first hyped this package a few years ago. Well, it’s back (along with a slew of other nice deals), once again offering one of the easiest, all-inclusive ways to experience the BVIs. Nightly rates start at US$250 per-person.

Anegada Reef Hotel

Set away from the main cluster of the British Virgin Islands, a good 15 miles north of Virgin Gorda, Anegada is easily overlooked by visitors to the BVIs. You shouldn’t miss it, of course, particularly if you prefer your beaches unspoiled and decidedly devoid of crowds. The family-owned, 20-room Anegada Reef makes it easy to enjoy all that this special island has to offer with beachfront rooms starting below US$200 per night.

Turtle Dove Cottages

Beachfront accommodations are nice, but experiencing the BVIs from an elevated perch, high in the hills above Long Bay and Apple Bay, will simply take your breath away. That’s what awaits guests at Turtle Dove Cottages, a small collection of three charming villas located near the western end of Tortola. Views from Turtle Dove of Virgin Gorda and other surrounding islands are priceless. Rates start at just US$150 per-night. Reservations, more info here.

S/V Sumaya Sol BVI Charters

Among the 270+ BVI listings on Airbnb are a handful of value-priced yacht charters. At just US$162 per night, Sumaya Sol may just be the most affordable, not only in the BVIs, but anywhere! Sumaya accommodates a maximum of four guests, so you get the type of intimate travel experience we enjoy, without the responsibility of actually piloting the boat.
