Leaving Buck Island the Laid Back Way With Capt. Carl
It’s never easy leaving Buck Island. The uninhabited islet’s soft, sugar-white sands and gin-clear seas are the types of treasures most would prefer to savor endlessly. As the Buck Island Reef National Monument is a protected area, though, leave you must! Overnight camping is never allowed at Buck Island, and the park closes everyday at sunset. This presents another great advantage of visiting Buck Island with our old friend, Captain Carl Punzenberger. Captain Carl, you see, takes things slow and easy, the better to help you soak up every last sublime second of your time at Buck Island.
A special kind of calm comes over you as Capt. Carl and crew raise the anchor and point one of the iconic Buck Island Charters trimarans back toward Saint Croix. There’s such a soothing rhythm to Carl’s process that any anxiousness over leaving simply disappears.
You feel at peace, grateful for the experience; wanting for nothing more.
Wish you were here leaving Buck Island…?
