Due to the destruction brought on by Hurricane Dorian in September 2019, Deep Water Cay has ceased operations. As the property recovers in hopes of reopening, a fundraising drive has been launched to aid resort staff in rebuilding their lives. It’s impossible to overstate the brilliance and consistency of the sunsets at Deep Water Cay, the upscale yet perfectly unpretentious private island hideaway situated just off the east coast of Grand Bahama Island. Each of the three evenings I spent there just a few weeks ago came with blessings akin to the view above…

I generally feel lucky to see/experience one nice sunset on my travels, cloudy skies and other bits of bad weather always conspiring to rob me of the grand finale to every day at some point or another.
At Deep Water Cay, though, Mother Nature spoiled me like never before…
