National Hammock Day Made Nicer in the Florida Keys

I have no idea who created National Hammock Day, or what inspired them to do so. I’d like to think, though, that the aha moment happened someplace like this. This heavenly hammock hangs at the end of the dock at The Moorings Village in Islamorada. Long a haven of upscale yet unpretentious style, The Moorings is my favorite spot to escape in the Florida Keys. Hurricane Irma was not kind to the Keys back in 2017, of course. The Moorings Village, though, is reportedly back and better than ever, especially for those who crave a little extra exclusivity in their Fla. Keys escape. Where previously the resort consisted of 17 rental cottages, The Moorings of today now offers a choice of just seven luxury accommodations. The best things always come in smaller packages, right? The axiom definitely applies to The Moorings for me. This special hammock is one small reason why.
