Rum Fire Punch, The Drink America NEEDS Right Now
America needs a drink.
Check that: America needs a really STRONG drink.
The craziest Presidential election season the country has likely ever endured comes to a close next week, and it seems that no matter who wins The White House, an epic elixir of excessively alcoholic content will very much be in order.
Our nominee: Rum Fire Punch.
- 2oz Rum Fire Overproof Rum
- 1oz Lime Juice
- 3/4oz Honey Syrup
- 1/4oz St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram
- 4 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Rum punch may seem/sound a bit boring to some, but believe you me this version is anything but! With Jamaica’s very fine Rum Fire overproof underpinning the potation, the bombastic quality of this cocktail is already assured. Adding a little St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram, though, takes the funky Tiki-type character of this tipple to a whole ‘nother level.
Note: I couldn’t get my hands on any St. Elizabeth for my Rum Fire Punch, but The Bitter Truth’s Pimento Dram Allspice Liqueur stood in as a more than admirable substitute.
To make it, add all ingredients to your shaker with ice, shake ’til you can’t hold your shaker no more, then pour and enjoy!
Note: Like most rum punches, this one is extra nice with a sprinkle or two of fresh nutmeg floating on top.
The fruity, strong, and pleasantly pungent esters typical of Rum Fire are amazingly amped by the allspice liqueur, the combo streaking straight to your head in a manner impossible to resist.
Seriously, one glass and you’ll be numb in no time; the perfect panacea for the times, no matter your politics…
