Rhum Clément Canne Bleue

Rhum Clément Canne Bleue – Luxury in Every Sip

Luxury is often loud and obvious. You know it when you see it, or at least most of us think we do. High prices and fancy packaging are typical tell-tales, though they can be misleading. Take Rhum Clément Canne Bleue from Martinique, for instance. It’s a good-looking bottle with an elegantly modern label. At first glance, though, it doesn’t scream luxury. Its modest price tag most certainly doesn’t either. Oh, but the liquid inside, though! One sip will have you feeling like royalty!

AOC and La Canne Bleue

The kingly difference in this rhum agricole is blue sugarcane. Said to be the world’s most expensive sugarcane, la canne bleue is renowned for its richly aromatic character.

Rhum Clément Canne Bleue is made exclusively from blue sugarcane. This ups its luxury factor in and of itself, though there’s more to this Clément’s upscale refinement.

Like all Clément rhums, Canne Bleue is produced to the exacting (and exalted) standards that have earned for the rhums of Martinique the world’s only AOC designation for rum. As we’ve noted before, AOC in the rhum world stands for Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée. This is the same prestigious designation awarded by the French Government to the finest agricultural products. (Wines, cheeses, butters, etc.)

In short, the AOC designation is an incomparable stamp of excellence in the culinary and spirits world.

Humble Production

Despite its fancy core facets, Rhum Clément Canne Bleue comes from humble beginnings.

For one thing, this rhum isn’t so much aged as it “rests” for just six months. No wooden casks are employed, though. Instead, la Canne Bleue enjoys its resting period in a stainless steel vat.

(Not exactly the type of “aging” most would associate with a fine rhum, right?)

Local volcanic spring water is then added slowly until the alcohol level is brought down to 50%.

So yeah, this white rhum checks in a bit above 80-proof, which to me would make it perfect for the very best ti’ punch. Only question is, how does it taste..?

Rhum Clément Canne Bleue Tasting Notes

Rhum Clément Canne Bleue lives up to its lofty AOC designation and exclusive sugarcane, offering a true taste of luxury in every sip.

This rhum blanc bursts with all manner of sophistication. The grassy notes typical of all rhum agricoles are heightened and wonderfully spicy. Hints of pepper and subtle tropical fruits dance among the heat on your lips and tongue.

There’s also a bit of a creamy feel and sweetness to Rhum Clément Canne Bleue. It’s balanced nicely with the spicy heat, though, creating an intensely dynamic flavor experience that truly stands out among white rums.
