Cancun Calm – Solo Floating Away from La Fiesta

Solo space isn’t always easy to come by in Cancun. Super-sized resorts line the beaches. In and among them, a myriad of bars, restaurants, and nightclubs comprising one of the hottest party scenes anywhere in the tropics. The list of diversions here is positively dizzying, though that doesn’t mean you can’t find a little Cancun calm. At least that’s what I discovered a few weeks ago at the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun Resort and Spa. I was at the property for a few days of meetings. While taking a break on day two, I happened out onto the beach and noted the scene above. One woman lounging alone with her thoughts atop a floating platform while staring out to Isla Mujeres. Tranquility in the shadow of a 600-room resort? Yeah, it was a reality for this lucky lady on this particular  January Saturday in Cancun.

Wish you were here…?
