Up Next: Birthday Weekend Escape to North Caicos
Any day that a portion of your work commute can look like this is bound to be a great one, right? You’re looking at a small section of the unspoiled coast that lines Little Water Cay, one of handful of islets you must pass when traveling northeast by ferry from Providenciales to North Caicos in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
My destination: The new Empyrean Villas, a pair of two-bedroom/two-bath cottages located on Whitby Beach.
To say this trip is a dream come true is a big understatement. I’ve been dreaming about returning to North and Middle Caicos to explore more of the uncommon charms on offer here ever since I was lucky enough to spend one all-too-brief day here two years ago. Having the chance to stick and stay in these most uncommon islands for a few days is sure to be a big highlight of my 2018 travels, and not just because of all that there is to do here.
You see, this is one of the rare, RARE occasions that I actually get to travel with the wife and my twin teenage boys. Another bonus…
I’ll be celebrating birthday #47.
Personally, I don’t think we could’ve picked a better destination or time to travel. August is very much the offseason in North and Middle Caicos. Most of the bars and restaurants are closed, rendering an already sleepy destination virtually comatose in all the best ways imaginable for uncommon travelers.
For pure relaxation, no crowds, and absolutely unfettered adventuring, it should be perfect.
Our flight leaves in just a few minutes! Be sure to check us out on Instagram and Facebook where I’ll be posting new pics and updates all throughout the weekend.
