Delivery Time At Anse Dufour in Les Anses-d’Arlet, Martinique
The drive in and out of Les Anses-d’Arlet does not forgive. The road itself is fine, the smooth asphalt typical of Martinique sitting in stark contrast to thoroughfares found elsewhere around the Caribbean. It’s the topography these roads traverse, though, that poses the challenge. A series of steep hills resplendent in rich green tropical forest tumble down to the sea and the storybook beaches that give the area its fame. They cause the roads to curve, crook, and twirl up, over, and around the territory in a manner most thrilling for driving enthusiasts. For truck drivers attempting to deliver supplies to the area’s many beach bars, though, not so much. That’s where fisherman like this guy come in. I saw him come ashore at Anse Dufour delivering produce to Chez Marie Jo while we enjoyed the beach a few days ago. Here the sea continues to act as superhighway.
