Dominica’s Black Sand Beaches Sparkle

Dominica’s Black Sand Beaches Sparkle

At first glance, Dominica‘s black sand beaches may throw off Caribbean travelers more accustomed to hunting for the whitest strips of shoreline. But upon closer inspection they truly sparkle. Set among the pitch black grains are minute bits of glitter. Like stars, they sparkle against a dark field and pull you in closer and closer. It’s then you notice that even the glitter are a variety of colors ranging from blues to reds and even turquoise. Continue scanning the inky blackness and occasionally you’ll even notice clouds of color spreading like a nebula of glowing gas.

No, Dominica’s black sand beaches may not be for everyone, but for the uncommon adventurer they shine in a way no white sand beach can.
