Fantastic Friday. Could there be a more aptly named party in all the world of fetes? The answer, as anyone who’s ever experienced this supremely loud, long, and ridiculously high energy celebration of all things West Indian already knows, is an emphatic “no.” The fun goes down each year on the Friday immediately preceding Ash Wednesday and the height of Trinidad Carnival bacchanal on the streets of Port-of-Spain during Carnival Monday and Tuesday. If you go, expect to sleep very little from this night until the wee hours of Ash Wednesday. There are simply too many sweet wines to tief 24/7 all over town.
