Happy Bay St. Martin Sculpture: Ancient Wonder or EDM Idol
While this Happy Bay St. Martin sculpture may at first glance appear to be an Easter Island style monument crafted through inexplicable primitive technology by an ancient island people, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, it was installed in 2017 as part of the SXM Festival. This relatively new music festival has been making waves since its debut in 2016 as a must-visit EDM extravaganza and a leader in the destination festival trend.
But while its creation was as part of a massive annual party, on my most recent visit to Happy Bay, there were thankfully no crowds and no loud music. All that greeted me was this monolithic sculpture serenely watching over radiant white sands, sparkling blue seas, and very few humans.
Just how I like it.
