Hiking Inside Statia’s Quill Volcano – My #1 New Year’s Resolution for 2020
The mere sight of one quickens the pulse. Whether born of fear or excitement, volcanic craters always stir emotions. For me, this is especially true in the case of Statia’s Quill Volcano. The most dominant geographic feature on the island of St. Eustatius, the Quill Volcano also presents one the most uncommon adventures on offer in the Caribbean. As noted previously, you don’t just trek to the crater rim atop this volcano; you can also hike down inside to the crater floor! It’s an experience I’ve been dreaming about for YEARS! To date, though, the Sint Eustatius immigration stamp remains conspicuously absent from my passport. This will change in 2020. Indeed, hiking to the interior of Statia’s Quill Volcano is my top New Year’s resolution for 2020.
