The words were said over drinks by a fellow guest at Deep Water Cay. He’d just returned from a full day of fishing the legendary flats that surround the unspoiled islets off the east coast of Grand Bahama Island. I was scheduled to fish the same flats the very next day and was anxious to hear what was in store. Nothing the man said, though, could prepare me for what’s actually out here – the utterly unbelievable natural beauty, the quiet calm, the impossibly clear seas. You really have to see it to believe it. That goes double if you love fishing.
