Hassel Island, St. Thomas Near Sunset
Once connected to mainland St. Thomas, the former peninsula/pirate hideout that is Hassel Island stands today as a beautiful centerpiece of the deepwater harbor that in so many ways defines Charlotte Amalie, capital city of the U.S. Virgin Islands. I particularly love seeing Hassel Island near sunset while walking along the waterfront. The fading sunlight casts shadows along her hills, adding drama and a heightened sense of wonder to this already storied place.
