Hogging the Pool at the Somerset

Hogging The Pool at The Somerset on Grace Bay

Given the choice, I much prefer natural pools over the man-made variety. We’ve been over this before, remember? Still, there’s no denying the absolute ebullience born of having a swanky resort pool all to oneself. You know, hogging the pool? There’s a mischievous, almost naughty quality to the experience. At least there is to me. I always feel like I’m getting away with something, butterflies flittering about my belly with every solo splash. It’s an exhilarating sensation that takes me right back to the space/time occupied by the kid pictured here.

Alone near dusk in one of the two jaw-dropping pools at The Somerset on Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos, this kid couldn’t have been have been happier hogging the pool. He splashed about for a good bit longer than his mom wanted, excitedly reveling in all manner of waterborne make-believe adventures. Pure childhood delight near dusk…I’ve rarely ever envied anyone more.

Wish you were here..?

The clock that crowns The Somerset is impossible to miss from the pool area, a nice convenience factor that I grew to hate in my last few hours at the resort.
