Saturday Video: Un Poquito de Puerto Rico
It’s often easy for me to overlook Puerto Rico, though not because I don’t like it, of course.
On the contrary, there are few places I’ve ever enjoyed exploring more!
From the offshore islands of Culebra and Vieques, to the misty mountain jungles of Jayuya, the quiet laid back vibes of La Parguera and Guanica, the beachy fun in Rincon, the history and charm in Ponce, and, of course, my beloved Old San Juan – Puerto Rico never ceases to satisfy my travel pangs.
The overlooking really has more to do with Puerto Rico’s close proximity to my home island of St. Croix, and San Juan’s standing as the crossroads of the Caribbean. Like a lot of folks traveling “down island,” my stops in Puerto Rico are usually transitory in nature, my bounding about Boricua confined to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport.
I’m aiming to change that this fall, inspired, in part, by this great video I ran across recently on vimeo…
Produced by Brian Luco Peña, an obviously gifted director/photographer from Chile, this small “bocadito” of Puerto Rico has me ready to hop on the next flight to San Juan and not run off anywhere else for a good while.
