The Sublime Beauty of Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery, Puerto Rico

You don’t see too many cemeteries highlighted in travel brochures to the Caribbean, though as we’ve touched on before, this one ought to be.

Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery is just that beautiful; that uniquely historic… sublime.

This is especially true if you happen upon this hallowed ground near dusk, as our friend and frequent photo contributor, Hiral Gosalia, did on a recent visit to Old San Juan.

The fading natural light mingling softly with the warm artificial bulbs, the strong ocean breezes whipping in off the Atlantic, the ancient city celebrating the oncoming night in the distance just as it’s always done for 500+ years – picture perfect to say the least…

See more posts featuring Hiral’s great photos in Puerto Rico, St. John, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Nevis and elsewhere here.
