Colorful Orient Bay, St. Martin: Photo of the Day

The broad descriptor “colorful” is often used in reference to Orient Bay, though generally for more risque reasons than those pictured…

It’s the chance to go au naturel (or gawk at those opting to do so) that draws most people to St. Martin’s most popular beach, but as I was somewhat surprised to find when I arrived here back in March, watersports options abound here as much as anything else.

Water skiing, jet ski rentals, parasailing, windsurfing, snorkel excursions, Hobie sailing, banana boat rides – like the endless rows of lounge chairs mentioned previously, it’s almost too much.

In the calm breezy cool of the early morning hours, though, the bright and colorful Hobie sails portion of all that too much more than satisfied my image capture cravings, if not my desire to stay a bit longer and fight to get on one…
