Horseback Riding Across the Sea in St. Martin

The breezy shores along la Baie de L’Embouchure on St. Martin’s undeveloped east coast cater more to eco-adventure and exploration than limin’ and lounging about. A protected Natural Reserve, the Bay boasts a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna; some rare, many endangered.

Between March and October, sea turtles nest here. In the winter months, humpback whales can be seen from an elevated observation deck.

Low-impact trails wind through the area connecting a series of gazebos with informative signage in English and French to make exploration easy.

For a more uncommon Embouchure experience, get with the folks at Bayside Riding Club Ranch for horseback riding tours that, as pictured above, even include treks across the sea to Caye Château.

Creole Rock ‘Feet,’ St. Martin

Jutting dramatically from the sea, the "head" of Creole Rock has long remained an iconic symbol of Grand Case, the sexy seaside village that in so many ways embodies the best of French Saint Martin. To me, though, the "feet" section of Creole Rock is photo-worthy in its own right.
