Any uncommon traveler visiting St. Martin would do well to check out Creole Rock.

A hardscrabble outcropping jutting sharply from the sea, Creole Rock sits offshore Grand Case; a silent sentry, of sorts, impossible to miss at the northern end of the Grand Case Bay.

I arrived here in high style a few days ago aboard Impulse, a fully tricked-out 38-foot Donzi ZF; the flagship of the Caribbean Marines speedboat charter fleet.

Like everyone else who ventures to Creole Rock, we were there, first and foremost, to snorkel. The rock and its surrounding waters are part of a marine preserve, which means LOTS of fish and some surprisingly (to me) healthy coral.

Above the waves back aboard ship, views like the one above of passing boats framed by the pristine natural surrounds only add to the special allure of the experience…

Creole Rock ‘Feet,’ St. Martin

Jutting dramatically from the sea, the "head" of Creole Rock has long remained an iconic symbol of Grand Case, the sexy seaside village that in so many ways embodies the best of French Saint Martin. To me, though, the "feet" section of Creole Rock is photo-worthy in its own right.
