Bikini on Tintamarre Beach, St. Martin by Patrick Bennett

Taking a Moment Away from Sailing to Take in Sunset on Tintamarre

It’s been said that “It’s not the blowing of the wind that determines your destination. It’s the set of your sail.” And I can think of few better destinations to set your sails for than Île Tintamarre found just off the northeast coast of St. Martin.

Accessible only by boat, in its protected waters intrepid snorklers can commune with turtles. (As Steve did on his last visit.) There’s an old airstrip to explore. And then, of course, there’s the beach.

Perfectly situated on the west coast, it sports positively splendid sunsets with the silhouette of St. Martin/St. Maarten playing a starting role.
