This Week’s Rattan Wine Walk at Estate Belvedere, St. Croix: Uncommon Envy
Ever notice how certain drinks are more suited to certain places and occasions than others? Beer is better at a ball game than a martini. Bloody Mary’s with brunch, great… Whiskey? Not so much.
(Yes, I make exceptions for rum, but then again, you probably already knew that.)
Wine, for me, means candlelight, soft music, twinkling stars; fine clothes and even finer food. It’s what you drink to toast special occasions in equally special places.
Special places like Estate Belvedere.
As we first told you earlier, Estate Belvedere is a truly uncommon villa-style property built in and around the stately ruins of an 18th century Danish sugar plantation tucked away on a lush hillside on St. Croix’s breezy North Shore. The whole place oozes a special charm and classic island style tailor-made for ushering in the evening with a Malbec.
That will go double this Friday in mid-January when Estate Belvedere plays host to The Rattan Wine Walk to benefit St. Croix’s Rattan Montessori School. The soft music, candles, and haute fashion/cuisine will be on full display as attendees enjoy sampling a choice selection of some of the finest wines available in the Virgin Islands amid the magical Estate Belvedere ruins and gardens.
(There will be a rum bar as well, supporting my earlier exception.)
All the fun starts this Friday, December 13th, at 6:30pm Friday, January 17, 2014 at 6:30pm (see above). Sadly, I won’t don’t have plans to be anywhere near St. Croix this that week, so yeah, I’m plenty envious. If you’re on-island, though, I couldn’t recommend this very special event more highly.
