U.S. Virgin Islands

U.S. Virgin IslandsTravel Guide

There is a certain indefatigable pride that comes with being from the U.S. Virgin Islands. It’s a pride that’s most certainly outsized relative to the modest 134 square miles that encompass the collective area of our 80+ islands, but it’s also absolutely understandable if you, like me, ever called the Virgin Islands home, or visited for a time and surrendered to her charms.

St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. John – no other English-speaking Caribbean islands are easier for Americans to visit (No passport required for U.S. Citizens!), or, in my very prideful biased opinion, offer as varied and rewarding a series of travel experiences.

A rich history and culture, distinctive cuisine, amazing beaches and deserted islands, hiking and camping eco-adventures, world-class scuba diving, recreational sports of every variety, the Caribbean’s most celebrated emerging reggae scene, even skydiving – our home islands have it all!

Clearest Water In The Caribbean – My Biased Opinion

Trying to determine which destination has the clearest water in the Caribbean is a fool's errand. I do have a favorite, though.

Salt River Bay St Croix

Salt River Bay St Croix and the Battle Over Public Beach Access

Looks inviting, but Salt River Bay St Croix has a long history of inhospitality. One that started with Columbus, but persists to this day.

Cane Bay Beachcombing, St Croix

Cane Bay beachcombing opportunities might seem rather limited at first glance. At the same time, though, Cane Bay is singularly special.

Dawning of a New Day for Hotel On The Cay St Croix?

Some places in the Caribbean look too good to be true. Hotel On The Cay St Croix has long been one of them, though that may be changing soon.

Spratnet Beach Bar St Croix isn't much to look at, which, along with its location, awesome people, and powerful papajuana, makes it perfect.

Green Cay Saint Thomas

Consistent with its surroundings, there really isn't much to Green Cay Saint Thomas. This, of course, makes it very appealing to us.

Sugar Chimneys of St Croix

St Croix's sugar mills are better known, but the island's sugar chimneys are more emblematic of my home, and not in the best of ways either.
