Runaway Ghaut

Runaway Ghaut  (pronounced “gut'”) is a roadside tumble of freshwater fed by rainfall in the Centre Hills of Montserrat. Locals and visitors alike are known to stop here while driving by for a cool sip of Montserrat’s finest drinking water.

But, it’s not by being a convenient water fountain that Runaway Ghaut has become a unique stop on your visit to the island. The legend goes that whoever drinks from this spot is destined to return to Montserrat’s shores. So, if you’re having as good a time as I would imagine you to have on your visit, be sure to take a sip and test it for yourself.

Considering that I’ve been back multiple times since my first sip, the legend appears to be true!
