Bahía de Cata, Venezuela: Wish You Were Here
A long and broadly smiling crescent of fine sand lined with towering coconut palms and fronted by generally calm and positively pellucid seas – Venezuela’s Bahía de Cata fulfills most everyone’s vision of an ideal beach destination. Located on the Araguan coast 30 or so miles from city of Maracay, this beachy enclave has only 3,500 residents. Hiking adventures in Henri Pittier National Park are close by, as are a number of other spectacular beaches, including the secluded Ciénga de Ocumare, accessible solely by boat or hike. Venture here and just might not ever want to go home…
