Yellow school buses aren’t the only means of transportation packed with eager minds thirsting for knowledge across the Caribbean during the current back to school period. Airplanes arriving in the region are jammed too, and not just with savvy travelers taking advantage of low shoulder season rates and a reduction in kid crowds around resort pools either.

The quality of education varies, of course (as it does everywhere), there are financial aid issues, and a variety of other potential drawbacks to consider.

On the plus side, though, students get to pair earning a medical degree with a uniquely immersive cultural experience brimming with adventure that’s worlds away from the lives they’ve known growing up in the States.
