Fly Free To Martinique On The Ultimate French Caribbean Learning Adventure
Free airfare.

These two magic words are always music to the ears, most especially when the $0 flights take you someplace as magical as Martinique.

This vibrant island, located smack-dab in an area I like to call The Sweet Spot of The Caribbean, presents as fun, filling (le cuisine here is absolutely unparalleled), and culturally enriching a travel experience as can be enjoyed anywhere in our home region.

Many of you longtime UC readers already know this, of course, stemming from my extensive Martinique musings over the years. Some of you have even been inspired by our advice, following in my travel footsteps to experience all the people, places, rhums, and things that have made Martinique so special to me.

Others of you, however, remain unconvinced. Among most non-believers with whom I’ve corresponded or come in contact with lately, the main issue generally revolves around accessibility. They ask:

How can I possibly experience Martinique at the level that you do?

I get it. Not every uncommon traveler is going to be as adventurous as the next. Sometimes we could all use a little extra guidance on the ground along our travels.

For those with such needs in Martinique, Road Scholar has the answer.

The world’s largest educational travel organization, Road Scholar has offered learning adventures to some of the most uncommon corners in the world for 40+ years. Their latest destination: Martinique!

The eight-day program presents travelers with an in depth intro to Martinique’s colorful history, its natural wonders, cultural heritage, and its celebrated rhum agricole.

Leading the way will be a collection of local experts, naturalists, and historians, many of whom helped to turn me on to Martinique’s charms long ago.

Yes, this is the type of escorted tour we normally don’t like. If we were planning such a program to Martinique ourselves, though, it would look a lot like this, so we’ll make an exception this time.

Plus, there’s very little not to like about free airfare, right? (To reap those savings, your travel must originate in either Boston or New York.)

Departures are offered on select dates through April 2017.
