I had every reason to believe that this day would never come. Bev Deikel, formerly the principal owner of Rosalie Bay, told me as much when I saw her at a tourism industry conference in Puerto Rico last January. Hurricane Maria had flattened Dominica 16 months prior. Rosalie Bay lay in ruins. The prospect of reopening wasn’t even up for discussion.

Then Bev’s partner, Patris Oscar, decided to write a new chapter in the Rosalie Bay story. Mr. Oscar, or just plain Oscar as he’s most commonly known, is a proud native son of Dominica. I also remember him being an avid hiker, with unique knowledge of trails, some marked and others more off the map, that wind in and around the Morne Trois Pitons that rise behind the resort.
In many ways, Oscar’s love for his home country – its natural treasures, cuisine, art, and architecture – have always been at the heart of what made Rosalie Bay so special. Now, as the resort’s sole owner, I’d expect the authentic West Indian charms here to be amplified even more.

Rosalie Bay is offering 40% off rates when booked now through Feb. 29, 2020 for stays enjoyed between February 1 and May 31, 2020. Rates are also discounted by 30% for reservations booked March 1 – May 31, 2020 for visits between June 1 and August 31, 2020. Savings apply to resort stays of two or more nights. Rates begin as low as $126 per night based on double occupancy and include daily breakfast, Wi-Fi, and all fees and taxes.
