Rosalie Bay Eco Resort and Spa Reopens in Dominica

Rosalie Bay Eco Resort and Spa Reopens in Dominica!

When one of your favorite resorts in one of your favorite islands reopens after getting walloped by one of the strongest hurricanes in recorded history, it’s cause for celebration! And so it is that we are popping the champagne at UC HQ today. The reason: Rosalie Bay Eco Resort and Spa in Dominica has reopened!

I had every reason to believe that this day would never come. Bev Deikel, formerly the principal owner of Rosalie Bay, told me as much when I saw her at a tourism industry conference in Puerto Rico last January. Hurricane Maria had flattened Dominica 16 months prior. Rosalie Bay lay in ruins. The prospect of reopening wasn’t even up for discussion.

Mr. Oscar Rescues Rosalie Bay

Then Bev’s partner, Patris Oscar, decided to write a new chapter in the Rosalie Bay story. Mr. Oscar, or just plain Oscar as he’s most commonly known, is a proud native son of Dominica. I also remember him being an avid hiker, with unique knowledge of trails, some marked and others more off the map, that wind in and around the Morne Trois Pitons that rise behind the resort.

In many ways, Oscar’s love for his home country – its natural treasures, cuisine, art, and architecture – have always been at the heart of what made Rosalie Bay so special. Now, as the resort’s sole owner, I’d expect the authentic West Indian charms here to be amplified even more.

Indeed, Rosalie Bay Eco Resort and Spa may just be better than ever these days! I expect to get back there later this year to let you know for sure.

If you want to join me in experiencing the new Rosalie Bay, now is a great time to book your escape. The property is offering some nice reopening specials to make the trip a little easier on your wallet.
