Windswept Point Webcam Whisks Us Back to St John

The shores that line the north coast of St John are the stuff of dreams. At least they’d always been that way for childhood me. Though I was born and raised in similarly tropical St Croix, just 43 miles away, I always considered St John to be my ideal travel destination. In particular, STJ’s protected northern shores, home to the Virgin Islands National Park, always held my fascination. The hiking and snorkeling trails found here; gin-clear seas teeming with all manner of colorfully exotic fish; ancient plantation ruins to explore โ€“ St. John’s north shore appealed to me in every way. The new Windswept Point Webcam rekindles some of those old happy feelings.

Launched in April 2021, Saint John’s newest webcam has its lens trained on those very same STJ North Shore environs of my childhood dreams. The elevated perch allows for a nice view of three sublime St John beaches โ€“ Cinnamon Bay, Maho Bay, and Francis Bay.

The Windswept Point Webcam is provided by Kimberley Boulon, a local artist based in St. John since 1980. What inspired her to do this? This line from the description on the webcam’s Youtube page offers a clue…

It’s a nice thought, particularly in light of the webcam’s launch during Earth Month 2021. One that we hope you’ll join us in supporting.
