Vieques Ferry Waiting Area (Unofficial)
As waiting rooms go, this one that I encountered waiting on the ferry from Vieques back to Puerto Rico is pretty sweet. No, it’s not the real waiting area. That large, impersonal, and largely uncomfortable space sits on the actual ferry dock just across the water from this sweetly shaded spot. The picnic area is part of El Yate Bar and Restaurant, which, as I’ve noted before, is a great first stop bar upon arrival via ferry in Vieques. This, of course, also makes this uncommon Vieques Ferry waiting area a prime last stop on your way back to Puerto Rico. One last stop for one last trago (or two), or a final laugh with a few locals. A fleeting chance to soak in Vieques’ singular sweetness.
