As waiting rooms go, the Vieques Ferry Waiting Area that I encountered en route back to Puerto Rico is pretty sweet.

No commute to work or school could be described as heavenly. The Fort-de-France commute by ferry from Trois-Islets, though, comes close.

The undoubtedly sad experience of sailing away aboard the Saba Rock Ferry is the type of agony I'd happily endure again and again.

It's not as epic as daybreak from your own private catamaran. Still, catching the sunrise aboard the Dry Tortugas ferry is pretty nice.

There's more than one way to fly to Anguilla, thanks to American and Tradewind Aviation. Calypso Charters, though, is still my favorite.

This was the scene yesterday at sunrise in St. John's Harbour, the dramatic skies overhead presaging what would turn out to be one of the most perplexing, eye-opening, and, ultimately, inspiring days of adventuring I've ever experienced anywhere. Our destination: Barbuda.
