Fort-de-France Commute, Martinique

Few things underscore the vicissitude inherent in summer’s end quite like commuting to work on the first day of school. Yeah, your travels to work likely sucked throughout the summer too. Still, it was summer. Sunny skies, warm temps, and streets devoid of school buses tend to make daily comings and goings a bit easier to bear. Even better, though, is the Fort-de-France commute pictured here. This is what it looks like riding the ferry from the Pointe-du-Bout section of Trois-Ilets across the Bay of Fort-de-France to Martinique’s capital city. Thousands of men, women, and children enjoy this Fort-de-France commute every day. No traffic lights, no fender-benders, or road rage of any kind. Would that it were like this for all us every day…

J’aimerais que tu sois ici..?
