Guess Where Giveaway Winner: Congrats Kayte Cook Watts!

Courtesy Tortuga Rum Company Ltd.

It’s all about you, Kayte Cook Watts! You’re the big winner of our latest Guess Where Giveaway!

Kayte, like just about everyone else who submitted a guess (we like to keep things simple), correctly identified our mystery attraction/location as part of the famed Underwater Sculpture Park in Moilinere Bay off the coast of Grenada.

The first such undersea artistic installation of its kind, the park features 65 sculptures by Jason de Caires Taylor spread over an area of 800 sq meters. All the sculptures are based in clear, shallow waters, providing easy access for snorkelers and divers alike. Moilinere Bay is about 2 miles north of Grenada’s capital city, St Georges. To get there, hop a 10-min. boat ride from St. Georges, or head to Dragon Bay and follow the beach walking south.

To get a better sense for just how cool this place is, click here to see 1 of several great videos on the park.

Kayte will soon receive the wonderful tasty treats from the Tortuga Rum Company pictured above. If you want to stay in the know on everything that’s happening at Tortuga, including announcements on all their wonderful giveaways, discounts and specials, check ‘em out on Facebook by clicking here. You can also follow them on twitter by clicking here.

Thanks to everyone who participated! We’ll have more chances for you to win fabulous prizes in the coming weeks…

Update: Good news, everyone. We’re extending this Guess Where Giveaway until Friday afternoon when we’ll pick a winner from all the people who identified the location in the photo. If you haven’t entered simply by commenting on this post or at our Uncommon Caribbean Facebook Page, you’ve still got a chance. Enter now.

Uncommon Caribbean hit a couple milestones this past week – 100 posts and 600 Facebook fans – so we’re celebrating with another Guess Where Giveaway!

This time the big winner will receive a 16oz Tortuga Rum Cake and an 8oz bag of Tortuga Rum Cream Coffee.

Everybody knows about Tortuga’s decadent rum cakes, each made with a generous amount of premium 5-year old, oak barrel aged Tortuga Gold Rum not available to the public, but what’s so special about their Rum Cream Coffee? Well, according to our friends at Tortuga, they take the smooth rich flavor of Tortuga Rum Cream and encase it in each roasted, choice coffee bean. The beans are then ground and vacuum sealed to ensure freshness and optimum taste.

Rum, cake and coffee – it’s the holy trinity of after-dinner treats!

Here’s what you need to do to win:

  • Correctly guess the name & location of the attraction shown in the photo above.
  • Post your guess as a comment to this story, or on our Facebook fan page here.

A winner will be selected at random from all correct guesses and announced 1 week from today.

Good luck!

Guess Where Giveaway: Win a Free Tortuga Rum Cake!

Guess Where Give Away

Patrick Bennett

Uncommon Caribbean rarely needs an excuse to party. But, it just so happens that we welcomed our 500th Facebook fan last week, so let’s celebrate!

Like any good celebration, this one will have rum, a cake and a game.

Okay, the rum and cake are together in the form of a Tortuga Rum Cake. The #1 export of the Cayman Islands, Tortuga Rum Cakes are made in the grand tradition of an age-old Hamaty family recipe handed down through the generations. The husband and wife duo of Robert and Carlene Hamaty founded the Tortuga Rum Company back in 1984, with Carlene starting the cake end of the business in 1987. The trademark ingredient  in each Tortuga Rum Cake is a generous amount of premium five-year old, oak barrel aged Tortuga Gold Rum, not available to the public. Hmmm, sounds perfect for an Uncommon Caribbean party, right?

Here’s the game you need to play to win it:

  • Correctly guess the location shown in the photo above.
  • Post your guess as a comment to this story, or on our Facebook fan page here.

A winner will be selected at random from all correct guesses and announced 1 week from today.

Good luck!
